Ski buddy

Sean and Jackson have been skiing a few times in the last couple of weeks, and Jackson is doing so well! They went a few times last year, but Jackson is much more into it this year. They've been going to Solitude, which has a magic carpet, and I think that helps.

Riding the chair lift with his dad for the first time!

First "big" run away from the bunny hill!

This past Saturday they went up the lift several times and Jackson came home so excited. Fun that these guys get to have some one-on-one time-- though I'm looking forward to (hopefully) many family ski days in the future!

Fresh air

I love living in Utah, but I seriously dread the winter inversions. The last weekend in January we decided it was time for a change of scenery and some clean air! The Knights joined us for a trip up to the cabin and we had a great weekend.

As we drove into Island Park, we were greeted by three moose eating in Henry's Fork. This is a mom and baby, and another moose was on the other side of the river.

The air was so clean and the sky was SO blue-- I knew we'd picked a good weekend!

We also learned Island Park was having a winter festival that weekend. Part of the festival included fireworks and horse-drawn sleigh rides. While we waited for the sleigh, the kids had fun checking out the snowmen and we drank hot chocolate around a fire.

The sleigh ride was a lot of fun and perfect for the kids-- not too long, not too short.

Bode made himself right at home in the front with the driver, and made sure to feed the horses some hay when we were done.

There was also lots of sledding behind the truck!

I just wish I had gotten a picture of Luke sledding-- he was grinning ear to ear and it was one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

One of my very favorite things to do at the cabin is look at the stars. It is incredible how many you can see on a clear night. Our friend Darren took some really cool shots of the night sky:

I love how in this second one it looks like it is snowing, but it is actually stars! So beautiful.

It was a fun, relaxing weekend. Other highlights included teaching Darren and Keisha how to play Rook (and let it be known the girls were victorious over the guys…), several trips in the hot tub, pinball, lounging, etc. I'm grateful to have my parents' cabin as an escape!
