Targhee trip 2019

Last year we took a trip to Idaho with our friends, the Grays, to go ski at Targhee and then head up to the cabin. We had so much fun, we decided to repeat the trip this year!

Targhee had been getting a ton of snow all week, which was great, but so much that they kept closing the highway to get there. We were a bit nervous when the road was closed the night before, but thankfully the road was open that morning!

I am happy to say it was one of the very best skiing days of my entire life. The snow was INCREDIBLE. Deep and soft and fluffy and we just floated on top of the snow. My friend Krista was nice enough to let me borrow her powder skis and it was amazing. Such a long time since I have skied on powder like that, and it was so fun to see Jackson and Bode get to experience it as well. It is such a different experience from skiing on groomers and I think they caught the powder bug that day.  We were all screaming and singing our first few runs because it was just so awesome! The boys were rock stars and skied all over the mountain. Our first run was a black diamond, but the snow was so deep and soft I don't think they even noticed and they loved it! Krista and Sean took some video while we were skiing, and you can see how awesome the snow was!

It's always fun skiing with friends!

Feeling happy after a full day of skiing. I love the snow tips on his hair. :)

After skiing, we headed up to the cabin and met my parents and Davis and Molly. We had a great time just hanging out, sledding, sitting in the hot tub, playing games, etc. The kids had fun building snow tunnels and forts. There is SO much snow up there this year.

I'm already looking forward to repeating this trip next year!

Jenny's 36th birthday

Well, I am officially closer to 40 years old. Technically, I know the second after I turned 35 this was true, but 36 seems more official. That number feels older than I think I feel in my head, but I am happy for the opportunity to get older!

I had a great day that started with a homemade smoothie in bed and some of my favorite doughnuts-- maple bars from Lehi Bakey.

Sean and I went out to dinner to a place called "Stoneground" in SLC and it was really good. Awesome atmosphere and awesome food.

I got a new ski helmet and a cool poster for our gym that Sean and my niece Riley made that has the St. George Marathon course map and my results on it. I bought myself the jacket in the pic above also. :)

We celebrated the next day with cake with my sister's family and my in-laws who happened to be in town for a doctor's apt. I loved that I got to have two birthday cakes! Here's to 36!

Super blood wolf moon

I'd heard about the "super blood wolf moon" in the news for awhile but had sort of forgotten about it. I noticed the moon looked sort of funny, and remembered it was supposed to be that night. Sean and I went out on our front steps and watched it. It was awesome! Sean took these photos in our front yard and I thought they were so cool!

Diaper free!

In January we decided to embark on the potty training journey for Molly. She was ready and excited about it, and I figured January was a good time since it is cold, the holidays are over, and we're stuck in the house a lot.

I just can't handle the cuteness.

She was super motivated by her potty chart and princess and pony stickers. She did awesome! It wasn't a scenario where she potty trained herself in like two days with zero accidents or anything (I swear I hear those stories all the time), but she caught on fairly quickly and was potty trained within a couple of weeks.

She chose a Rapunzel doll from "Tangled" as her potty prize. She was so happy and so proud! I was too! I am so excited to be diaper free after 10 years!

Mommy daughter date

The boys went to Monster Jam one weekend in January, so Molly and I took the opportunity to have a girls night! We started with pizza at Pizza Studio and then headed to the outlets for some shopping.

Molly actually really loves going shopping, which is a lot of fun for me. I don't go very often anymore, but I do love going with her. She always points to things and says, "I love that" in her cute little voice. We got a kick out of us wearing our matching Vans that night.

We ended the night by watching Cinderella in bed while we waited for the boys to come home. It's fun having a girl. I know all family compositions are different and perfect and complete in their own way. I love my boys so much and it is so fun having a girl in the mix after identifying as a "boy mom" for so long!
