So I am the new girls camp director for our ward! I was pretty surprised when I received the call, but I am very excited. We have some really cute and sweet girls in young women. Everyone keeps telling me it is a lot of work but also very rewarding. I really like everyone in the young women's presidency also so that is another score!
We're camping at Mutual Dell in American Fork Canyon, so very close to home. We're going mid-July and our camp theme is "Daughters of a King." I'm new to this so if any of you have any fun ideas or things you remember doing at camp that you loved, please let me know! It's funny because I don't feel like it has been that long since I was in young women and at camp myself.
My mom told me she'd help me out by coming and watching Jackson that week while Sean is at work. I am afraid I'm going to miss my boys like crazy, but it will be a good adventure for us all.
P.S. How awesome is 'Troop Beverly Hills?'

Girls camp...When we lived in AZ I was Young Women's prez for 3 years, and went to camp each year, and I feel like we had the daughter's of a king theme. I remember a song that went along with it. I will try an remember things, but it's all a blur right now.

Fun! I was called as that when we first moved here, but it got cancelled before I got up there because of a tornado (I am sure that won't happen to you)! It was fun planning it. Plus....I LOVE that movie! You will do a great job! (But doesn't it seem like we were at Girls Camp ourselves? Time flies too fast.)
Crazy! You will be an AWESOME director. I can't think of any good ideas right now but I will let you know if I think of any :) So nice your mom can come help out, that will be great!
As you can guess... no, I have no good memories from girls camp that I can help you with. I do remember falling by the river and getting a stick stuck in the palm of my hand and then getting yelled at by a leader for saying shit cause it hurt. I guess my advice is don't get mad if a girl gets hurt and says shit.
In our camp each year we did a secret sister thing and a mail box where you could write notes to each other...I remember that being my favorite part of camp. Let me know if you'd like to hear more ideas. I'm sure you'll have fun and make it great for the girls no matter what you do!

Girls Camp director! Go Jenny!! It seriously feels like just yesterday I was at Girls camp at Darby! (Remember good ol' Darby? Gotta love those slides!)
Oh you will be so great at that! Troop Beverly Hills is one of the best movies! haha. Beverly Hills - what a thrill. That was one of my FAVORITES that I'd watch every time I visited my grandparents in California.
The girls in your ward are lucky!
