Puerto Vallarta

Right after Thanksgiving, and the day after Davis's birthday, Sean and I took off for Mexico! It was a sales trip, and sales guys were nice enough to invite Sean, and lucky me got to go too! It was our first time to Puerto Vallarta and we both LOVED it. The timing of the trip was a little crazy, but once we were on the plane and I could relax, it was so nice! It was awesome having a week of relaxation before jumping into the craziness of Christmas. I'm especially grateful for my mom who was nice enough to watch the kids so we could go.

The first night we were treated to an amazing sunset!

We stayed at the Vidanta and it was AMAZING. I've been to a few different resorts in Mexico before and this one blew the others out of the water. Our room was enormous and so pretty.

The resort was massive. There were multiple towers all with shuttles between them and a ton of really nice pools.

Sean, Garner, and Shawn (3 of the 4 from the legal team there) decided to wade out to a sand bar one afternoon. They are the little dots in the distance:

While the guys were gone, Julie, Natalie, and I sat on shore and we saw what we thought was a shark!

There was a local fisherman there who assured us it was not a shark and it was in fact a Jack Crevalle fish :)

We spent a lot of time relaxing at the pool and ordering food and drinks! The food at this resort was incredible. I feel like it is sort of hit and miss in my past experience in Mexico, but honestly, the food the entire week was SO good. I loved being able to order an entire bowl of guacamole whenever I felt like it!

Sean and Garner having a breath holding contest-- Garner won!

We kept the virgin Miami vices, mango tangos, and chunky monkeys going on repeat!

View of the sunset from the top of our tower at dinner one night (there was also a pool on the top of our building!)

View during the day in the same spot when we were lounging by the pool

And the view from the other side!

One cool thing about where we stayed was that the beach was a sea turtle refuge. All of those little markers are for baby sea turtle eggs! We were even able to see a few babies that had hatched.

Sunset at dinner from the French restaurant we went to.

Sean ordered the cheese tray-- they literally wheeled a cart out and you just show them which ones you want.

On our third day in Puerto Vallarta we went on an adventure tour where you start with a 30 minute boat ride to a small town on the coast and then ride in a Unimog further in to the Sierra Madre Mountains. Then you ride mules even further and zip line, repel, and water slide down! I was a bit nervous because I had no idea what to expect, but was really excited too because I love zip lining. Our friends Julie and Garner went with us and it was a ton of fun.

Some of the houses on the coast were pretty impressive! It's like they appeared in the middle of the jungle.

We didn't realize how mountainous Puerto Vallarta is. It is so pretty! We docked in a small, beautiful little town before getting in the Unimog and the scenery was stunning!

Behold, the Unimog! Sean was pretty excited this was our transportation.

All suited up and ready to ride the mules!

Our first of many zip lines

Our first repel. It was awesome having the waterfall right next to us. I thought I would be scared of the repelling, but it was actually my favorite part!

The water you repel into was freezing cold!

Zip lining upside down was scary! And actually, Sean and I both thought it sort of hurt-- but it was definitely an experience! haha

Waiting for our boat to come pick us up for the ride back to the resort.

Our guide was so awesome-- on our way back to the resort he took us by an island in the middle of the ocean that is a bird refuge and let us get out and swim because it is also known to have amazing snorkeling. It was not included in the tour but he just thought we would like it-- so cool!

There were a ton of tropical fish and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the day!

On our walk back from the boat dock, we ran across this mama turtle headed up the beach to lay her eggs. It was really cool. I heard later this turtle laid something like 60+ eggs!

Relaxing in our cabana facing the ocean after our day of adventure. We learned we like virgin mojitos on this trip. :)

Checking out the lazy river on our last full day in Mexico. We kept thinking how much fun it would be to bring our kids back here someday.

It really was such an amazing trip and I feel lucky we got to go!
